Coastal communities are particularly dependent on the fisheries industry. Artisanal fisheries suffer from overfishing and dwindling incomes. Additional, remote coastal communities are often disadvantaged in infrastructures like telecommunication, energy and water management, adequate education and medical services. This makes it difficult to find alternative job opportunities or create successful businesses.

Blue Life intends to help communities by creating such new or alternative income revenues. We are looking at a variety of opportunities for training, entrepreneurship, development of small scale businesses and non-fishery jobs to improve sustainable livelihood.

Activities in Mantanani project:

  • Training for hydroponic and gardening
  • Training for handicraft from driftwood
